Help us find prospective board member
in the community

We are seeking community board members to join our board that has been, to this point, made up of Cantabile singers. We are looking to recruit individuals who share our passion and commitment to cultivating and promoting an appreciation of the choral music through programming and community outreach. We would like these individuals to join our board in June 2006. Over the next three years, our goal it to have at least 30% of our board members be non-singing community members.

Since September 2005, thanks to a grant from the NJ Cultural Trust, we have been working with nonprofit management consultant Mary Ann de Barbieri to develop a strategic plan and strengthen our governance structure and systems. After a comprehensive planning process with active board engagement, the board formally adopted our new three-year strategic plan in March 2006. We are also making good progress on our board development goals, clarifying expectations for our board members, formalizing our board recruitment process and identifying the skills, attributes and access currently needed for our board of directors.

Please take a look at the following profiles of skill sets needed for our board and give us your suggestions of individuals that you feel might be a good fit for the Cantabile board.

• Finance: An individual with knowledge of nonprofit accounting to serve on the finance committee.

• Corporate/Business Leader: An individual(s) who is a leader with a local or regional business. This business leader could be a finance person who fits the profile above or who has marketing or fundraising expertise.

• Marketing communications: An individual(s) who can help develop and implement actions to increase awareness of Cantabile in the region. This individual could be a marketing communications manager with a local or regional corporation.

• Public relations, community relations: An individual(s) who can help plan and direct development and communication of informational programs to maintain favorable public and community perceptions of Cantabile’s accomplishments and agenda.

• Fundraising: An individual(s) experienced in raising contributed funds for a nonprofit organization or

• Development: An individual(s) who has connections to individuals and businesses with the potential to become strong supporters and donors of Cantabile.

Our sincere thanks for your help with this important board recruitment process as we focus on building a strong board to support Cantabile now and in the future.
